Yuri started learning Chen Style tai chi in the
early part of the year 2000 whilst living in Bristol. He joined the Bristol School of Tai Chi and as a complete martial
arts beginner started to learn the 19 Pattern Chen Style short form taught by Ben Milton. Yuri also began to study the Straight
Sword in his first tai chi year. After being a student of Ben Milton's for a year and a half Yuri moved away from Bristol
to live in Glastonbury, Somerset.
Fortunately, at the same time, his second teacher,
Malcolm Droy was setting up his own 'Southwest Tai Chi' school in Somerset (teaching in Glastonbury, Street, Weston-Super-Mare
and Taunton) so with no break in his training Yuri was able to continue his 'Chen Style' studies. Yuri began teaching in September
2007.

Between the teachings of Ben Milton and Malcolm
Droy, and the occasional workshops given by Grandmaster Chen Xiao Wang and Master Chen Yin Jun, at Bristol School of Tai Chi,
Yuri has acquired quite a lot of knowledge and still, enthusiastically, continues to learn.
Yuri practices the Chen Style 'Long Form' and
is learning the second form ('Cannon Fists') as well as practicing the Straight Sword; Broad sword; Spear/staff; Kwan Dao;
Double Broad swords; and a Fan form.
